Grouse Lake Trail : ウィキペディア英語版 | Grouse Lake Trail
Grouse Lake Trail is in the northern Sawatch Range, part of the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located in the Holy Cross Wilderness east of Grouse Mountain in Eagle County, south of Interstate 70, near Minturn, west of Vail and east of Avon, Colorado. It is located at the northeastern edge of Holy Cross Wilderness Area, east of Grouse Mountain. The trail begins in the multi-use forest area on Meadow Mountain, open to snowmobiles, skiers and hikers. Historically, Meadow Mountain and the Grouse Creek watershed were part of a local ski area purchased in 1970 by Vail Associates to supplement the Vail Ski Resort. Vail lies a few miles east of Grouse Creek. In 1971, the United States Forest Service purchased Meadow Mountain from Vail Associates. The area is an important elk calving area and habitat for the snowshoe hare and the reintroduced lynx. The lands west of Minturn and south of Beaver Creek Resort became protected lands within the Holy Cross Wilderness on December 22, 1980. The boundary of the Holy Cross Wilderness Area is 4.3 miles up the Grouse Creek watershed. Grouse Creek Trail continues another 2.9 miles to reach Grouse Lake at the base of Grouse Mountain. == References ==
